Alaska Family Services, Inc. is a 501 ©(3) and is a diverse and growing social service agency that has a full time non-exempt, benefited opening for a Medical Billing Specialist in Palmer. This position reports directly to the Accounts Receivable Manager, handles all client insurance billing: Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance (first payer and secondary billings), processes EOB’s for all billings and applies payments to accounts. Works on self-pay accounts – billings, correspondence, and collections. Researches all denials and reviews accounts for accuracy and preparation of necessary adjustments. Does fee sets and follows up on eligibility of Medicaid clients and insurance coverage. Enrolls providers and groups with private insurance and completes application for the providers to submit to the insurance company. Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping, two years experience as a full-charge bookkeeper including experience specifically with a computerized medical billing department. Minimum Qualifications: High School Equivalency, successful experience as a bookkeeper to include specific knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principals, and cost analysis.
