Then take the first step and become an aircraft ground instructor and earn between $12 and $30 an hour.

I am a local, active helicopter Airline Transport Pilot/Flight Instructor and I will give this course absolutely free. At the same time you will need to study a lot, but not full time. It will take about 6 - 9 months to complete the course. To obtain your ground instructor certificate you will need to take two FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) written tests. Those two tests cost each about $100. Again, the course to prepare you for the test is totally free but requires lots of studying.

The ground instructor certificate is a back door that nobody really wants to tell you about. When you pass the two tests, you will be an official FAA ground instructor and apply at a flight school and give classes. You do not need to be a pilot. However, it is also a great way to meet pilots and start building up a network: Because early on you will find out, that once you get to know a few pilots, they will be more than happy to assist you with your goals (I might just be the first one).

Course requirements:
You must ...
- be at least 17 years of age
- be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
- be drug free (you might be tested)
- be a US Citizen
- be of good moral character

You do NOT need ..
- to pass a medical test
- to obtain your pilot certificate after completion

This is a self-study course. We will meet once a month in class for questions, study assignments and stage checks.

My needs: I am female, late forties. I prefer free weights. Since I haven't worked out regularly for many years due to a family member medical situation, I would probably mix up a work-out with machines first to gradually get my strength back. I am not overweight, but need strength (a natural side benefit will be getting toned) so I can do fun things again without hurting myself. In my thirties, working out was a way of life. I taught a women's circuit training class in a small town, before certification became a requirement. I basically know "how" to work-out so don't need to be taught. I know that six weeks will get me in decent shape again. I don't want to be in a place that is overcrowded. A friendly atmosphere that is clean. Perhaps, all of the gyms I listed are very good, and I just need input on what time of the day that you think is a good time to go that is "newbie" friendly- meaning not too many professional bodybuilders. (I may get in their way. - nothing against bodybuilders! Just me honoring their space. :-) )

I am self-employed so I can arrange my schedule. I am concerned about price/value. I don't need all the amenities/perks. I don't normally engage in group classes.
