Notice of Sale
Pursuant to Seward City Code, Section 7.10.750 notice is hereby given that the abandoned vessel Auklet Red is offered for sale. Sealed bids for this vessel must received by 4:00pm November 13, 2009. Bids must be mailed to Seward City Clerk Attn: Impound Vessel Sale PO Box 167 Seward, AK 99664. Bids will be opened at 10:00am Monday, November 16nd 2009 at City Council Chambers.
Bidders are encouraged to inspect this vessel prior to the sale. The Auklet Red may be inspected by interested bidders by appointment only. Contact the Seward Harbormaster’s office at (907) 224-3138 to schedule an appointment. Office Hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm seven days a week.
CONDITIONS OF SALE:
All vessels are offered for sale as is, where is, and no warranties or guarantees of any kind will be made. The City reserves the right to reject any bid based on Seward City Code 7.10.755. Transfer of interest by sale shall be evidenced by a Bill of Sale from the Harbormaster, considered a transfer by operation of law and governed by the applicable provisions of law. Payment in full must be received and the vessel must be removed from City property prior to the Bill of Sale transfer.
The amounts due to the City of Seward include costs generated from interest and penalties on unpaid moorage, towing, appraising, impounding, and storing the vessel. The accepted bid amount must be paid within 24 hours of acceptance of the bid. The Harbor will only accept a certified cashier’s check made payable to the City of Seward.
The entire vessel must be removed from City property within 14 days of the bid opening (on or before November 30, 2009). If the vessel is to be immediately returned to the Seward Small Boat Harbor, a minimum of one year’s moorage must be prepaid.
The City may purchase the vessel at the sale for an offset bid in the amount of fees and charges due to the City as stated in the Minimum Bid below.
