ALASKA MGD DUCKS UNLIMITED Event (St Patrick Parrish)

The Military/Dependent/Government (MGD) Chapter of ALASKA DUCKS UNLIMITED invites you to come out and have a great time while supporting wetlands conservation on 19 DECEMBER 2009 during our annual banquet.

Location, general timing and pricing options are as follows:

St Patrick Parrish
2111 Muldoon Rd, Anchorage
Doors open at 530PM
Dinner starts at 630PM
LIVE AUCTION starts at 8PM

$45 Single
$65 Couple
$30 Greenwing (17 or younger)
$250 Greenwing Legacy
- DU membership until 21st birthday
- Qualifies for the Sponsor Raffle!!
$270 Sponsor
$290 Sponsor Couple

This banquet is a limited seating economical alternative for those that want to support DUCKS UNLIMITED but are looking for an event where they aren’t competing against a room full of high rollers flipping C-notes like pennies into a wishing well … we try to keep the playing field friendly for what we think of as the $10 and $20 crowd … and we are in that crowd, too!

As always, there will be a LIVE and SILENT AUCTION with prints, decoys, guns and other DUCKS UNLIMITED unique items. And we are going to say it up front … we only set our minimums at cost if we even set a minimum bid. Further, we do not allow committee members or anyone else to run up bids. We like to see folks get good deals just as much as anyone. Just remember that the committee members get to bid just like everyone else and they know a good deal when they see it, too!

There will also be a TIERED RAFFLE with GENERAL, BONUS and SUPER BONUS categories ... and all three are filled with great prizes. Of note, for those that have been to an MGD banquet in the past, you will recall that we are one of the few banquets that always have a shootin’ iron in the GENERAL RAFFLE in addition to the BONUS and SUPER BONUS.

Speaking of GENERAL RAFFLE prizes … Although haircuts, car washes and NAPA ball caps hold a special place in our hearts, we don’t think that they should dominate the GENERAL RAFFLE so you won’t find much of that in our banquet … we put a lot of cool stuff into our banquet!

As a reminder, you get $25 in GENERAL tickets just for walking through the door in addition to a door prize!

Plus, our EARLY BIRD SPECIAL is geared towards the TIERED RAFFLE and it is something that everyone gets to enjoy. $100 TIERED RAFFLE PACKS ARE ONLY $50 UNTIL THE DOORS OPEN! Each one of these packs gets you 25 GENERAL, 5 BONUS and 1 SUPER BONUS tickets.

Once the door opens TIERED ticket packs will cost:

Crafters Smackdown 5 (Feb. 14 '10) (Anchorage)

The Fifth Anniversary calls for a gift of a hunk of wood. Look it up! I’ll wait.

OK, now that we’ve cleared that up, you should know that it’s the Smackdown’s fifth year. That’s right. So, what did you get us? A Team Application? Perfect. It’s made from wood!

Pardon me? Don’t know what the Smackdown is? Well, where the glue gun have you been for the last four years? The Crafters Smackdown is a sudden-death crafting competition that features heats of timed craft challenges. We provide the junk and the tools—you provide the absurdly named teams and registration fee. Teams are eliminated after each round (boo, hoo). Judges consider creativity, presentation and bribe quality in selection of the Smackdown champions.

Team competitions, the Craft Lady of Molybdenum (same idea as last year, different ringer), poetry and food—it’s the most fun you can have in Anchorage on any given Sunday afternoon.
Didn’t compete last year? Well, are you over yourself yet? Fill out the application already. You’ll do fine.

Directions for bribing the judges are available only to registered teams. Celebrity judges this year are Carol Comeau, Amber O'Neill, Ma'o Tosi, Lynnette Sullivan and Marla Greenstein.

You know your boss is looking for a place to donate cash and take advantage of all sorts of tax credits. Smackdown is held by a non-profit organization. That’s a charity. Have your boss donate some money.
Because while money can’t buy you love, it can buy you a sponsorship which includes publicity and a receipt.
Just interested in being a spectator? Why not? It’s free. Come on over and cheer (or jeer) for a team or two.

Find us at www.frozenchosen.org or email for a team application. Find us on Facebook, too, and become a fan!
Craftily Yours,
The Smackdown Crew

"Alaska's Heavy Light" tells a story about Palmer and Wasilla Alaska, complete with (mostly) fictional characters. Alaska and the Matanuska Susitna valleys are strong-willed characters in this book. It isn't an accident when people choose to live and stay in Alaska. There is always a reason and underlying purpose. This book explores local and regional politics and intrigue in this incredible place.

How many of us have longed to chuck it al and run off to some far corner of the earth to start an entirely new life filled with unknown adventures and impossible challenges? This is the story of a couple who did. Leaving the security of a small Midwestern town occupied by their ancestors for generations, they followed a twisted path which eventually landed them and their five children in Talkeetna, Alaska. Alone and surrounded by strangers who were not all that anxious to welcome them, they nevertheless managed to form new friendships, establish new careers, and grow to love their new home surrounded by the beauty of Alaska and its people.

ASTD Alaska December 9th Book Talk: Encore: Finding Work that Matters

When: December 9, 2009 6:00 PM (Gather at 5:45)
Barnes & Noble Bookstore
Anchorage, AK 99503

Encore: Finding Work that Matters in the Second Half of Life

Pick up Encore by Marc Freedman to glimpse a new development in growth and development for the latter half of your career. Whereas we once thought of the active career being replaced by retirement and leisure pursuits, Freedman suggests we aspire to a new vision, one in which work continues....but supplies money AND meaning. He writes,

"Think back. When millions of soldiers were crossing over from World War II to civilian life, we invented the GI Bill to help them move into a new chapter. Now, with 10,000 boomers crossing over the half-century mark every day, it’s time to tackle their transition not just one at a time, but as a society. At stake is the continued productivity of the largest, healthiest, longest-living, and best-educated generation in American history.

Making the most of this opportunity will require four changes.

We need a collective attitude adjustment. We must recognize that this isn’t merely a vocational shift—it’s not just a transaction (to a new job) but a transition (to a new stage of life stretching between the middle years and true old age). It’s not just about what you’ll do, but who you’ll be, for a period that could last a quarter-century or longer.

We’ll need to invent and adapt a whole range of social institutions, beginning with the two routes we offer young people preparing to start careers—internships and education.

Education may be gained as part of a “gap year” for adults—the chance to catch their breath, test the waters, and fashion a new chapter of life and work.

We’ll have to invent new ways to finance this transition. Even with more ways to try on and train for new roles, underwriting this shift is a formidable barrier. One solution: Instead of telling boomers to save for an unsustainable 30-year retirement, the financial-services industry would do well to develop and market new products aimed at the midlife transition.

How about IPAs—Individual Purpose Accounts—to go along with the retirement-focused IRAs? IPAs could be set up to provide tax breaks for savings focused on education, training, or fellowships after the age of 50. Vehicles of this sort could help individuals invest in their own future by covering the costs of midlife transitions.

Finally, innovations in public policy will be essential, not only in creating tax incentives for savings mechanisms like IPAs, but for fashioning a midlife transition superhighway to replace the rickety routes that currently exist.

Here we won’t have to start from scratch. The new Serve America Act establishes the prospect of federally funded encore fellowships in all 50 states. That’s a start. But given the size of the boomer generation, we require nothing less than a national human resources strategy and policy agenda for the second half of life, one that includes health coverage for the midlife shift.

If we replace the DIY transition with a sturdy passage that helps boomers find new meaning, continued income, and the chance to use all they have invested in their human capital, we can make a virtue out of longer working lives over the next 50 years just as we made a virtue out of shorter ones in the past 50. In the process, we can turn the demographic wave already washing over us into a new tide of individual and social renewal."

How will it affect your plans for personal growth and development? Come to the December ASTD Alaska Book Talk Wednesday the 9th at 6 PM. Get your coffee or tea, then gather near the fireplace at Barnes & Noble

and share your margin notes! They have copies available if you wish to get one in advance or as a result of the discussion.

ASTD Alaska (American Society for Training & Development) welcomes you!

PROPHETIC WORSHIP & “PROPHETIC” DISCUSSION ***MESSIANIC CHARISMATIC*** (Anchorage)

ENCOUNTERING JESUS IN "OUR-MIDST" & IN "THE-BODY" THROUGH PROPHETIC WORSHIP AND "PROPHETIC" DISCUSSION, PROPHETIC FAITH & HUNGER

HOLY SPIRIT MEETING, ALL DAY EVERY SATURDAY (SHABBOS DAY) ***This is for Jews & Goyim equally*** (More "Charismatic" than Messianic, see details at website.)

**EVENT POSTED HERE FOR ONLY 2 WEEKS BUT IS ONGOING IN FACT EVERY SATURDAY, REGULARLY**

~ Gather in His Name as early disciples, to [actually] meet HIM!
~ Preferring each other in the Unity of The Holy Spirit
~ ~ ~Very long Prophetic Worship (about 2 hours, give or take). Pressing into Yeshua. Exploring, together with humble pianist, in song, what The Spirit is saying in the moment (similar to but not exactly like IHOP Kansas City) --each one taking their “Full Liberty” in the Holy Spirit.
~ Expecting to Encounter Yeshua BOTH through our senses (in “our midst”) and through each other (in “The-Body”).
~ Emphasis on Activating Faith, “the Invisible Realm”
~ Expecting Holy Spirit to distribute gifts and offices, on the spot.
~ No prepared teachings. We will Hear Him in each other and in our hearts.
~ Expecting His Leading in the new moment, as He Lives.
~ ~ ~ “Prophetic Discussion” (with Faith and by The Spirit) of Dreams, Encounters and “Current Events in God” that we “believe” we “should” discuss.
~ ~ ~ Reading Torah (with Faith). “Prophetic Discussion” of Torah (in The Spirit, with Faith). In some meetings, God has confirmed certain themes that were discussed and “realized” with Powerful Anointings and Visions.
~ Anyone in His Image, from every nation, come join us! I am a former rabbinic Jew who enjoys the Sweet fellowship of The Holy Spirit with Charismatic Goyim (ie; nations or Gentiles) who walk with Christ.

**This is not as much a messianic meeting as it is a Holy Spirit Jesus "Encounter & Manifestation" meeting** (See website for more details, please.)

TIME: We begin Saturday (Shabbos) morning at 11 am with extended Prophetic worship and believe in how the day will develop with discussions and reading Scriptures. Later on (anywhere from 4 - 7 pm, depending) we share some food together (potluck style) continuing our focus on Him and afterward return to more Prophetic worship and more discussion as He leads us. We normally go at least till about 8 pm and have been known to continue discussing or worshipping in His Presence till well past midnight on some occasions.

Please feel free to come whenever you can or to stay for as much as you can. Have your full Liberty, please.

PLACE: We meet at the 2nd floor of the Wellspring building which is at 2511 Sentry Drive, just off Lake Otis near Abbott Road (in the direction behind the Fred Meyers). Use lower parking lot. There is a portable wireless bell we temporarily attach (every Saturday) to the door bank closer to the street just in case the main entrance (further from street) is locked. If the signs and the bell are there, that means we are still there. Check for open door, or ring bell.

MORE INFORMATION: Visit the website at http://www.wix.com/holyspiritfaith/toras-moshe-emes

At the website you will find more about the location, the vision, what has happened at previous meetings, what to expect and also a contact form and other general articles about things He has revealed to us at the meetings and to me personally relating to the bridge between ancient Christianity and ancient rabbinic Judaism.

This is not at all geared to restoring Hebrew roots even though I was raised in rabbinic Judaism and I do have a love and a burden for them in particular and He sometimes does use certain historical or lingual aspects of my Hebrew knowledge. This meeting is only about literally Encountering Jesus in The Holy Spirit. The Goyim (nations, or Gentiles) are way ahead of the Jews in this, which is why I love to worship with anyone and everyone who believes that we CAN meet Him "in our midst" and "in The-Body"!

I say to YOU as Psalms 34:3 says: COME "Magnify The Lord with me and let us Exalt His name together".

Definitely feel free to ask if you should have any questions at all (from the website or by responding here).

Sholom in Christ!

“DJ Skribble forever changed the way that DJs are perceived—he raised the bar with his music, his hustle and larger than life personality. He is one of the first DJs that made everyone stand up and take notice that the person playing the records could be as big a celebrity as the musicians themselves. When you look at Skibble’s credits you wonder if there is anything left for him to do. As a member of the Young Black Teenagers he created a sound that defined the times. As a solo artist he has spun with the forefathers of hip-hop—Grandmaster Flash for one—to one of the best MCs to have ever lived—the Notorious B.I.G. He kept New York moving as a hip-hop DJ on the top urban station (Hot 97.1), as well as spinning house on KTU. And his face was universally recognized from the half dozen MTV shows he hosted (The Grind, Spring Break, Sisqo’s Shakedown). It’s amazing he still found time to perform 200 plus live shows a year. Though the music sounds a little different today, Skribble is still one of the most demanded DJs out there. He’s taken his sound to a new level, doing gigs with Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction fame. Their show is a rock-electro live remix experience that showcases the genius of each of their talents. With Skribble’s mad skills on the turntables, and Dave’s notorious guitar riffs the two play off each other to create a unique experience with every gig. As a solo artist, Skribble remains one of the most captivating DJs to watch and listen to. He has taken his own musical journey through hip-hop, into house and come back full circle to hip-hop. His skills have only grown as his musical tastes have changed. His ability to combine new sounds into his already established repertoire have made his shows both innovative and familiar—it’s the Skribble everyone knows and loves, with a little extra on top.

Torah, Visions - Discussion | Extended Jesus Worship | Spirit of Truth (Anchorage)

We are a few souls who want to meet God face to face. One of us did. Another believes he will (this is the one who writes this - I want to meet Him and to know Him --much more than I do now!).

***I urge you to read this posting very carefully & to prayerfully consider whether this kind of meeting is for you, or not. This is definitely not “messianic as usual” or even “charismata as usual”. Please come only if you are really HUNGRY --- no --- only if you are STARVING for more of Jesus (or if you are “hungry” to gain “hunger”).***

We meet Shabbos day (Saturday) at 11 a.m. We regularly go till around 9 pm and sometimes past midnight.

In sum, we do several unique things: (1) Worship, wait, and seek Him for a very long time (2) Discuss the weekly Torah reading, as well as other things that come up during discussion that we trust are His Will for us to explore and discover. (3) Discuss Dreams, Visitations, & Encounters. (4) Allow Him to lead us and to do whatever He wants to do.

We begin with HOURS OF WORSHIP to Yeshua (Jesus). We intercede and sing spontaneous praises. We yield to the Holy Spirit. We allow Him to "sing-through-us" and minister back to Him. We take our time in thanking Him and waiting on Him. We sing prophetically about "current events in God" that The Spirit shows us, on the spot. Sometimes we “find out” what these “current events in God” are, as we go. We sometimes sing acapella but usually with a keyboard accompanying. THE SINGING IS NOT LIMITED TO ONE SOUL, BUT WE DESIRE THAT ALL EQUALLY SING (please, please, whether it is the same theme as others are singing or not!) KNOWING THEY DO NOT NEED PERMISSION FROM ANYONE TO RAISE THEIR VOICE AND EXTOL HIM OR PROPHESY OR ADDRESS HIM ANY WAY THEY WANT. ~ ~ We don’t normally use standard songs but we sing "spontaneously", from the heart (from The Spirit), with liberal, free-flowing personal expression. We sing in tongues of angels and in English (or Hebrew) expressing the wonderful mysteries of Who He Is, what He has done, and what He is doing. This can include atmospheres of intense joy or intense sorrow (sometimes both). Sometimes we intercede and sing about The Light going to certain people-groups, industries and our local area. Since we are so very determined to be transparent, sometimes the topics can get personal (about how we are “desperate” for Him to change us—for real!!!). We encourage every soul (please, please!) to express their own personal longing and thanksgiving to Him since this adds to the atmosphere of praise and prophesy – in the Body. We often sing-out a few of the Psalms used regularly on Shabbos by the Jewish people (in their liturgy) that (1) praise Him, (2) declare our faith in Him, and that (3) ask Him for mercy to teach us Torah and (4) to change us. ~ ~ We also engage again in worship (later on) whenever The Spirit prompts us.

THEN WE READ TORAH. We read the portion in the 5 Books of Moshe (Moses) that the Jewish people read around the world every Shabbos day. We also read the prescribed Shabbos portion in the Prophets. We read related portions in the Apostolic Writings about Yeshua and other Scriptures that come up in discussion, as He leads us.

WE DISCUSS matters from the Torah reading and that which comes up in conversation, that we mutually feel is being “Breathed On” by The Holy Spirit.

THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH has also come to this meeting --literally--. Truth has come. He has pointed out and exposed lies in our discussion (in all of us, equally, at certain times). I now hope to meet Wisdom!

****WE FEEL COMPELLED TO EMPHASIZE**** that some souls have left us after being “exposed” BY THIS SPIRIT of TRUTH. We want you to join us (we really do!), but WE WANT YOU TO BE VERY AWARE that “this Spirit will catch you in lies” (it has happened to us!). It can be a bit uncomfortable (especially if you have no prior experience of this, or if you don’t expect to potentially “get caught”). ~ ~ But if you really want God “to change you”, you probably would also have the determination necessary to endure. For me, I have personally found that once I have tasted the “true” Correction of Moshiakh (Christ), I am actually excited for more. Of course, His Correction is edifying and comes with great revelation. The ultimate purpose of this Correction is to help us to “be repulsed by evil and choose good”, as it says.

WE ALSO SEEK TO SHARE AND DISCUSS VISIONS, VISITATIONS, AND DREAMS THAT ARE “CURRENT” IN THE SPIRIT (whether that day or within a few days, and so on). *** We must emphasize that we give a very high credibility and attention to dreams and to discuss the “spiritual” impressions of symbols in dreams. God has spoken in these meetings about how Solomon’s kingdom was actually established IN A DREAM. ~ ~ When we DISCUSS “current events in God” we are able to see more of the coherence in the various combined experiences of the brothers and sisters who have shared. ~ ~ We also value these real-time, personal “experiences” (whether they happened recently or long ago) as guide-posts to interpretation of Scripture and to the experiential and personal application of The Word to “our flesh”. In this way, we allow God Himself to interpret Scripture, and, most importantly, to bring it TO LIFE, "fulfilling" it in us to make us “Completed”, allowing also no room for human error. (This is actually what Yeshua came to do when He said “I will write it on your hearts”. This is The “Living” Torah!)

IN THESE MEETINGS, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE POWER OF GOD THAT IS DESTROYING "THE VEIL" that has been on the Jewish people's reading of the Books of Moshe (Moses). We have been finding HOW SIMPLE the message of Moshe was to the people but how they did not “get it” at the time. This is a message TO US TOO, whether we will come to get it OURSELVES ---or remain “veiled from God”!!!

We have come to lovingly refer to the books of Moshe, as “THE GOSPEL OF MOSHE” since Moshe “got it” by evidence of his seeing God and his face Shining. So narrow is “the path” that only Caleb and Joshua got it in that generation. This is a message to “us” and to what WE will choose. Will WE run from God as they did at Sinai, asking someone else (Moshe) to mediate, and putting on a veil, or will we run TO God, removing our veils?

THIS EVENT of the veils falling IS MONUMENTAL since it is actually and literally OCCURRING in the Spirit AS WE READ IT EVERY SHABBOS. We have had confirmation from dreams and from the Tangible Anointing present at various times to where it has been said that SHAFTS OF LIGHT are going forth from READING AND DISCUSSING THIS WORD as we come together to be taught OF HIM, FROM HIM, by the discussions and revelations that He Himself Orchestrates in our midst.

We are “messianic friendly” since we value The Torah --this much-- and we come each week, EAGERLY expecting to see how HE will teach Torah and reveal Torah TODAY. We are “messianic friendly” since we use some of the Psalms used in daily rabbinic prayers and pray for the Israel that is about to be Awakened. We are also “messianic friendly” since we have a brother who is able to share about Hebrew and Aramaic words related to the text reading, and also some relevant customs & other historical records from Medrash and Talmud that compliment the message of Moshiakh Yeshua.

We are different than messianic meetings we have seen in that we do not “seek out” to learn more about Hebrew or to become more Jewish in order to come closer to Moshiakh Yeshua. Our eyes are on “The Hebrew of Hebrews” Himself -- to walk “in tandem” with Him (in the “now”) and to drop our veils so that we can cling to Him continually, with no more interruptions from internal fuzz or clamor. Tradition cannot open our eyes but HE CAN. We recognize our failings and that we need our eyes to be opened only by a miracle. Our goal is to meet God face-to-face and we are aware of our sin until we do (if we did not have sin, we would have already seen Him). Thus we know that Hebrew (language or customs) cannot remove our sin but HE can. So we seek The Living Torah and however He wants to use the Hebrew information and histories. ~ ~ As indicated, so far we have seen from the reading of the Torah, a powerful call to simply “come to Him with unveiled face”. We have also seen some supporting sub-themes that are enhanced by examining the greater clarity seen in the Hebrew words. The lies of the Jewish people are passing away and the simple Truth (that was there all along) is coming forth –to all of us.

Bring food to share (but still come, even if you don’t bring food). We have actually read recently about how part of the TITHE was their bringing grains and first fruits to the Temple TO SHARE their bounty with each other!!! (So, come either way, and we can share OUR tithes with you!) They used to EAT THE TITHE!!! (There was a different tithe for the Levites/Priests.) This would be an expression of their thanks to God for what He has given them. They would share it and, of course, talk about Him (what else!!?). We usually break bread and pour juice, in remembrance of Him, late afternoon or early evening.

WE REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!! REALLY!!! I HAVE STATED HERE MUCH OF WHAT HAS ALREADY TAKEN PLACE BUT WHO CAN PREDICT GOD??? (Who would want to predict Him or limit Him???!!!) WE IN FACT --WANT HIM-- TO COME AND DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO!!! AS FOR ME, I COME WITH THE ANTICIPATION AND EXCITEMENT THAT ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!! MAYBE HE WILL CORRECT, MAYBE TEACH, MAYBE TRANSFORM, MAYBE HEAL, MAYBE INITIATE US IN THE LONG AWAITED "APPEARING OF THE SONS OF GOD", MAYBE ALL OR NONE OF THE ABOVE, MAYBE SOMETHING WE NEVER THOUGHT OF, MAYBE SOMETHING NEW!!!

Finally, come ONLY IF, AND “WHEN” you sense the Lord prompting you. Everyone has always come to these meetings “at the right time”, whether at 11 am or 4 or 7 pm (whenever). This has also been a miracle to our eyes! It is amazing to us how each one's “coming & going” fits right into THE FLOW OF THE DAY. It is His Perfect timing always. How wonderful He is!

Sholom in Moshiakh Yeshua in Whom He has also Risen US from the dead.
--------------------------

Location: 2511 Sentry Drive, right off Lake Otis. Use lower parking lot (large). Use the group of doors that are closer to street. Door is normally locked so, please RING BELL and we will come down to open for you. (Staircase will be toward the left. 2nd floor.)

** There is another group related to Hebrew roots that meets in the main auditorium (ground floor) from about 1 pm on Saturday (Shabbos), during which time the main doors (further from the street) should be open. Those doors will likely be open from around 12 pm - 4pm. Turn left when entering and make your way through the lobby to the staircase on the left. 2nd Floor. Signs will be posted for something like: "Shabbos Meeting, Prophetic Worship, Torah".

SENTRY DRIVE RUNS PARALLEL WITH ABBOT ROAD. Technically, it is in the direction behind Fred Meyer at Lake Otis and Abbot. There are apartments just behind Fred Meyer which are on Sentry Drive. Wellspring building is across from those apartments. The Wellspring building is a big, modern type of structure with a small parking lot right off Lake Otis (at the top of the incline) and a huge parking lot at the bottom of the incline when coming from Lake Otis. You will use the lower parking lot and entrances.

--------------------------

Directions: Either take Lake Otis toward O'Malley, making a right just past Abbot Rd onto Sentry Drive (after the Fred Meyer ramp). Or take Dimond which turns into Abbot. Rd, turn right at Lake Otis, and right again (shortly) at Sentry Drive to the lower parking lot.
