SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Behavioral Health Specialist identifies, triages, and manages patients with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting. In addition, the Behavioral Health Specialist will provide brief intervention strategies, will develop specific behavioral change plans for patients, and will provide staff and patient education related to behavioral medicine. This position is oriented less to crisis management than towards optimal self-management of chronic illness.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced degree in psychology, nursing, or clinical social work such as Masters in Social Work, LCSW, Masters in Family Therapy, Ph.D. in Psychology, Masters in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, or ANP. Current unrestricted Alaska licensure required. Three years clinical experience preferred, ideally with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations. Experience collaborating with medical providers. Bilingual preferred.
