Must have good gear and be over 21 years old because we play Koots and other bars quite often. Must be able to make AT LEAST 2 practices a week, and up to 3 friday or saturday shows a month (in the summer). In the winter, shows typically fall to about 1 or 2 per month, sometimes none. Must also be available to fly out-of-state for at least one major show per year (usually LA area). Also, band members have never taken any money for themselves that the band makes on shows/sales. It all gets pooled as "The Band Fund" and is used for merchandise, transportation costs for far-away shows, etc..

To be great at whatever you do, you must live it, feel it, think it, eat it, sleep with it and crap it, all day, every day for at least 20 years. I literally saw Tommy Bolin do that. His guitar WAS his wife and life itself was a parade of scales. He lived for the sound he made and he made it unique. I've been in great bands and I can tell you beyond doubt that when such a band gets together, the crowd ceases to exist. It all comes down to people musically communicating in a set time and space and that becomes all that matters to them. All else disappears.

So, please try to refrain from harshly speaking of other musicians or bands. Instead, try telling them that they are good, but that you may have a little something that they might be able to use to further their music. Alaska is a place where a lot of musicians go to re-charge their batteries and lay low enjoying nature for a while. The amount of jealousy up here is really scary though.
We are NOT professional quality and we're damn proud of it, but we are NOT shitty musicians.

I feel like my own parent telling myself "No internet until you've finished cleaning the house" because this friggin' thing sucks you in. The internet is a trap for your brain, and cell phones are going to prove to be the 'cigarettes of our generation'. I already quit the cell phone, maybe I can quit using computers too and feel like a person again.
Anyway, back to the point... We would like to get a solid bassist since Seb and I are both guitarists and I'm a rock pianist 1st and foremost.
The problem is finding the talent in such a small pool. We'll probably wait till we get to a major city to deal with that.

As far as people who have been through serious shit... I'm not a chick and I don't cut my wrists but I did take care of my sick mother for about 10 years who died a few months ago... Addiction? Check... Major heartbreak? Check... Major heartbreak which led to about 5 years of hard drug addiction, hospitalization, jail time... Depression, friends lost to suicide, living alone, coming of age at a time (1998-present) when there are no decent jobs no money and very little opportunity for musicians?
Check.

That's why I do it. That doesn't mean you have to go to jail to play the blues, but please I'd appreciate some respect. I'm not an upper middle class kid who took a lot of acid and decided he's a psychedelic rocker. My notes just reflect what's going on in my mind.

I'd like to say that my no-bullshit, be yourself, New York City style balances Tom's mysticism... And if it were just one of us in the band there would be too much in one direction. Way too much. And Tom's being himself too, he's like that in real life and he's not a delusional asshole... He's very friendly and kindhearted especially compared with a lot of people who have 'higher' stations in life...

I understand it's going to be like this for a long time, the criticism, but that's okay because it happens to every band, and for every 'you suck' comment I hear there's about 9 'good shit' ones... Hi I'm looking for the dj scene here in anchorage if there is one. In my old town my friends and I would get together and plug into somebody's home theater system and take turns playing 5-6 song sets. The goal being not to drop the beat for as long as the night lasts. My ultimate goal is to gather a crew of dj's together so we can start a scene at the bars and clubs here.

more assumptions based on nothing. ben is my cousin and we made the video at home on a laptop. hes not in design school, we made it for the sake of art and he learned how to use adobe photoshop himself purely by experimenting. the creature was made out of frog bones and sculpy, backgrounds were painted by us and the chick is my girlfriend. this was done on an 8 megapixel camera for probably less than a few hundred bucks.

hell, we dont even especially like the recording of the song that's currently up with the video. frankly, we know that it sucks compared to what we currently sound like.
that was our first demo recording thats almost a year old that we paid a whopping 60 bucks to record, with our old drummer, with each part recorded seperately, before we were even sure of how the song went. each time i watch the video all i can think is how i wish the recording were accurate. but that will have to wait till we rerecord it.

till then, the video stands as it is, and we made the video and the song for people to enjoy and gain from. we hope they do, and if they don't thats fine, but please dont spill your overflowing douche bile all over craigslist. nobody likes that shit, and we're sorry everyone for the misunderstandings that come with equating people with black words against a white background. we really are just 4 dudes that like music and really think we have something worthwhile to give to people.

if you'd like to know what we sound like, you'll have to come hear us live. the recordings are old. if you dont want to that is your decision and thats fine.

we reacted wrongly the first time this happened but now we know how it is. we love you little buddy! keep on rockin!

We're looking to get back into a schedule of playing regular gigs, tis been a few years since we played a room of more than 100 people. Most of the bars up here are really small and really empty, except for Koots, but that place treats bands like shit...
We're down to play anywhere though and in the summer we're not afraid to set up in a park and just entertain people, so you have to be down with that sort of stuff to be in the band. We plan on being paid for bar gigs, of course not much, we are artists after all, not lawyers.

Oh yeah, and we can work a soundboard so no worries about house sound-dudes not doing their job, Me and Gordo can take care of it!

i am looking for someone who can either fill me in on this, or someone would be kind enough to let me play their Ric for a few minutes or so - just so i can see if they're really my thing.

im particularly intrigued by the 620, 625, 460, and similar models with the attractive "crashing wave" upper horn.

i know for sure the clean sound would be spot-on, ive heard more than enough albums by the Beatles and the Smiths to know this for sure - but the difficulty i may have with a Ric is that i tend to utilize a pretty heavy-handed BigMuff fuzz sound - which i dont know how a Ric will react to, having never played one.

just not the kind of gamble im willing to plunk down $2,500-3,000 on without knowing for sure...

We drink, we smoke, but neither to the extent that it would cause any sort of problems, we have ZERO tolerance for anything else. We will play bars and other events but do not plan on making much in the way of money, this is a love of music project just FYI. The songs will be 100% originals and we have no plans to do covers.

We plan on incorporating other instruments such as mandolin and hopefully some keys. I am 35, have a "tiny" practice room, you would need your amp and bass but other than that everything is in place.

Demo tracks below are pretty broad in genre, I hope for someone that can play as good if not better than what is recorded. I have more recorded but don't have alot of online space to display them, if interested we can check the rest together.
