Organization Overview:
Founded in 1971 by volunteers, Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) is Alaska’s largest grassroots conservation organization, with nine year-round staff, dozens of seasonal staff, nearly a hundred volunteers, and approximately 6,000 members across Alaska. ACE was established in order to preserve Alaska’s wild lands while building sustainable communities and encouraging recreational opportunities.
Position Overview:
The Communications and Outreach Coordinator is an integral part of the ACE Membership Team. The coordinator assists the Membership Director with fundraising efforts and special events coordination, and is responsible for communications, member and public outreach, and volunteer coordination. Primary responsibilities of the Communications and Outreach Coordinator include managing ACE’S public relations through website updates, quarterly newsletter design and production, compiling and disseminating weekly electronic newsletter updates, and overseeing ACE’s phone and field canvass outreach throughout the year. The coordinator ensures consistent organization-wide messaging and works to improve membership relations, fundraising efforts, and volunteer and community outreach in collaboration with the Membership Director.
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and successfully meet established benchmarks over time. The successful candidate will possess leadership qualities, grassroots organizing experience, and effective time management and organizational skills. Positive attitude and sense of humor a must. Some experience with communications software (content-based web management, InDesign, Photoshop, Excel, Word, etc.) preferred. Experience with fundraising also a strong plus.
Compensation: $33,000-35,000 DOE; full health and dental benefits
