Environmental and maintenance works in the Convent San Giorgio

The project aims to bring new economic, tourist and especially cultural and spiritual movements in a quite isolated area. It deals with sustainable living, no waste, recycling and clever use of energies.
As every year international volunteer groups will spend some days at the ex Convento San Giorgio: a good chance to meet people from all over the world, to know a bit of Italian culture, getting in touch with permaculture and sustainable living; all this while staying in a Convent of the XVII century. The tasks of the participants change according to the period of the year, the season and the weather, but can be summarized in:
• maintenance of the structure (cleaning the Convent, painting walls, restoring windows,...)
• feeding the animals (chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, donkeys)
• working in the garden
• cleaning paths around the Convent in the wonderful Regional Park of Sirente-Velino.

I'm a psychology graduate student doing a short internet survey (under the supervision of Dr. C.N. I am a University of Colorado doctoral student conducting dissertation research on opinions about news coverage of priests and sexual abuse in the United States.
Participants will be asked approximately 50 questions and it is expected that completion of the survey would take 40-45 minutes. Some of these questions may be personal and will ask about your feelings towards religion as well as the issue of clergy sexual abuse. Your responses to the questions will be kept anonymous and participation is voluntary and any individual may discontinue participation at any time.

TutorChatLive.org is currently recruiting volunteers to tutor online starting when we relaunch the site on January 18, 2010.
The main responsibility is tutoring students who request our free, live help. Our service is open and available to anyone that can access the website. Tutors work from the comfort of their own homes/offices on their computer and chat one-on-one with students in an instant messaging-type program. Tutors have many tools at their disposal such as the ability to link the student with online resources, draw on a virtual whiteboard, and transfer the chat to other available tutors online should they need further assistance.
Tutors can tutor in any subject area for which they have knowledge of, at least at the middle school/high school level. Math/science is of high demand, but not required.
We are very flexible with scheduling but request at minimum that tutors be online for two hours a week and commit to six months of tutoring with our service.
If you are a high school student in need of community service hours, we will gladly provide those.

I did something similar once, held a sign that had a big smiley face and said HAVE A GREAT DAY - which resulted in some interesting stuff

My name is Chris and I organize a group in Columbus, Ohio, that exposes inner-city children and young adults to experiences they might not otherwise have. I visit schools, libraries, etc., allowing them to see videos, listen to speakers, try different foods, listen to music, dance, etc.
Part of my presentations deals with letting them help prepare international dishes, which brings me to the favor.
There is a Greek dish called saganaki, which sets fried cheese on fire, then is extinguished with lemon juice. I think it will be a fun experience for them, and since my budget is tight, I've been searching for a good deal. The only reasonably priced Kasseri Cheese (the type used to make saganaki) that I have been able to find, is sold in--you guessed it--Anchorage, AK! And, on top of that, the store does not ship unless a minimum of $150 is ordered. That's way out of my budget.
My idea is that I could purchase the cheese with my credit card, have a nice volunteer to pick it up and ship it to me. The post office has great rates--of something like $14 for a flat-rate shipping to anywhere in the country. I, of course, would be willing to send you the money for shipping costs!
