Very hard to find limited edition print of the painting “The Sky is Falling” by Alaskan artist Bruce Shingledecker who lived in Gustavus AK and was known for his acrylic paintings of Alaskan wildlife, some of which included glacial silt in the paint for texture.
Purchased from Cha’s Gallery in Juneau many years ago when the gallery was still in business and before the prints sold out, this is the iconic image that gave the artist worldwide recognition when it was used by The National Wildlife Federation on one of their greeting cards. It was also the first of 21 of his artworks to be published as prints.
Frame measure 22”x19.5” with etched snowflakes on the glass to give the falling snow a 3D appearance. Overall in excellent condition aside from some superficial scratches on the frame that are easily overlooked due to the stunning beauty of this piece (it may be possible to buff them out or camouflage with a touch up pen if reframing is not an option) other than that it’s in fantastic condition!
