For offer is a pretty rough Subaru Outback. I only used it semi-regularly for a few months last year, then major issues started. Namely, it has general power loss and will almost always stall when coming to a stop. Pressing the gas pedal is usually necessary to help get it started. Most if not all of the dash lights flash. At best, it could get someone from point A to B if it's all highway. I would recommend towing, but it will need jumped if you plan on driving it.

Internet research and a mechanic's opinion suggest that the valve body and torque converter will need to be replaced. I was quoted $4,200 (with labor) for that. However, that may not fix the problem, in which case you're looking at a new transmission.

Additionally:
-it could use front and rear struts;
-there is a slow but steady oil leak; I bought a valve cover gasket set to possibly help with that, but I did not install it;
-I have oil + oil filter for an oil change;
-it could probably use some other regular maintenance, like brakes

Prior to the power loss/transmission issue, it ran fine and served me well. I didn't have it very long or pay very much for it or else I might have been more invested in it.

Call, text, or email are fine.
