Summary of Position:
The Baker is responsible for preparing and baking a variety of bread, rolls, pastries, cakes, desserts, and other baked goods in accordance with established recipes and quality standards. The Baker ensures proper preparation, portioning, and presentation of all baked items while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency. Additional responsibilities include adhering to food safety and sanitation regulations, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Baker is also tasked with fulfilling orders for baked goods from the various restaurants and departments within the hotel, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to meet operational needs. The Baker monitors inventory levels, coordinates with kitchen staff to meet production demands, and contributes to the overall efficiency and success of kitchen operations.
Minimum Education:
o High school diploma or GED equivalent required
o Culinary degree or certification in baking and pastry arts preferred
Minimum Experience:
o 2+ years of experience as a Pastry Cook or in a similar culinary role
o Must possess a valid Food Handler’s card
Skills/Abilities:
o Ability to regularly lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
o Proficiency in using commercial kitchen equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, dough sheeters) and pastry tools (e.g., piping bags, molds, pastry cutters)
o Strong understanding of baking techniques, methods, and pastry arts, with a focus on both quality and presentation
o Knowledge of proper weight and volume measurements, metric conversions, and percentages for recipe adjustments
o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure consistent product output
