The headboard measures approximately 8 feet wide and the frame fits a queen mattress perfectly.
Originally invested around $1,000 into the red oak lumber alone, not including labor or construction.
The bed was only used for about one year before being placed into storage in May 2024, where it has remained since.
No box spring is needed. The mattress sits directly on the solid wood slats and is extremely stable, quiet, and sturdy with no movement or squeaking.

Some of the included leftover wood pieces are approximately:
• (1) 1x12x23"• (1) 1x8 – 15.5"• (2) 1x6 pieces – 35" and 18"• (1) 1x4x6'• (3) 1x3 pieces – one 6' and two 8'• (3) 1x2x8'• (4) 1x2 pieces – 56", 44.5", 39.5", and 35"
There is quite a bit of usable red oak leftover from the build. Honestly, the extra wood alone could probably sell separately for around $50–$60, but I would rather include it with the bed for someone who may want it for future matching projects, repairs, shelving, or custom additions.
I also have a very expensive queen-size Sleep Number mattress available separately. Originally purchased on sale for around $1,700. If someone wants both the custom bed frame and the Sleep Number mattress together, I would sell the complete setup for $1,000 total.
Downsizing and relocating, otherwise I would keep it. Very unique piece and much higher quality than most store bought furniture.
