Maintenance Manager

Introduction

Key Responsibilities
• Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Overseeing the maintenance and repair of production equipment, refrigeration units, food processing machinery, and facility infrastructure to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Preventive Maintenance Scheduling: Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs, scheduling regular inspections and servicing to extend equipment life and avoid unexpected breakdowns.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with food safety regulations, such as, OSHA guidelines, and local Alaska health codes.
• Resource Management: Managing budgets for maintenance operations, sourcing spare parts, and negotiating with vendors, often dealing with longer lead times due to Alaska's remote location.
• Emergency Response: Coordinating rapid response to equipment failures or facility emergencies.
Unique Challenges in Alaska
• Climate Impact: Extreme cold temperatures and seasonal weather can affect machinery performance, require specialized equipment, and complicate outdoor maintenance tasks.
• Supply Chain Logistics: Remote locations and limited transportation options often lead to delays in acquiring parts and supplies, making inventory management and advance planning essential.
• Energy Efficiency: High energy costs in Alaska make maintaining efficient refrigeration and heating systems a priority to control operational expenses.
Skills and Qualifications
• Technical Expertise: Basic knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems relevant to food and beverage production.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of food safety laws, environmental regulations, and workplace safety standards.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions quickly.
• Communication: Clear communication with management, staff, and external vendors.
• Must have current driver license with clear record.
