Who we are: A hands-on community seeking individuals, couples, and small families to join us in our extended family home. We share groceries, child-care, some meals, and can often be found out on road trips or home with a board game. Children, pets and friends are welcome (there are plenty here already). We regularly host on couchsurfing.com as well as help the occasional “rescue” trying to get back on their feet.
What we are: A rooming cooperative established specifically to offer the kind of living environment extended families enjoy at a cost that those of us without that kind of support can readily afford. Visitors consistently comment on the comfortable atmosphere we enjoy. Members often realize a sense of belonging they weren’t aware was missing.
Where we are: A quiet cul-du-sac in East Anchorage, off Boniface and Tudor. Close to universities, hospitals, Alaska Club East and the university lakes, with easy access to bus routes and bike trails.
What you get: Originally a family home, the house is large (3000 sqft) with plenty of decks and yard. This room is good-sized (150+ sqft) and clean with some furniture, including a personal fridge. Bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen are shared. You have access to the entire place, there’s plenty of on-street parking, and in summer we maintain a garden, firepit, and hot tub. Rent covers room and all utilities including WiFi. Each roommate also contributes $200 monthly towards shared household goods and groceries.
